About

After graduating with a Masters in China Studies from the Jackson School, Darrin Magee went on to receive a PhD in Geography from the University of Washington and then to find a full-time faculty position as an Associate Professor of Environmental Studies at Hobart and William Smith Colleges in Geneva, New York. Darrin’s research focuses on China’s energy and environment; specifically, hydropower in contemporary China.

Darrin has published widely on issues concerning water management in China as well as on more general topics in the study of the environment of East Asia. He also teaches courses on topics specific to China and East Asia as well as general issues in Environmental Studies.
