The UW Center for Human Rights is proud to present five fellowships to students carrying out human rights work!
Hannah Garland, 2022 Peter Mack and Jamie Mayerfeld Fellow. Hannah is a Law School student, who will be working as legal fellow on the Death Penalty Abolition Team at Reprieve USA, which seeks abolition of capital punishments in the U.S.
Katie Sophie Gonser, 2022 Lisa Sable Brown Fellow. Katie is Ph.D. student in International Studies, who will be working on dissertation research that examines ability of humanitarian organizations to impact human rights situations in North Korea.
Nancyrose Houston, 2022 Benjamin Linder Fellow. Nancyrose is a MA student in International Studies and at the Evans School, who will be working with the UW Center for Human Rights on the “Observatory” project.
Niyura Yazmin Jasso Romo, 2022 Abe Osheroff and Gunnel Clark Fellow. Niyura is a Law School student, who work with Global Rights Advocacy and La Resistencia to bring voices from the Northwest Detention Center to the United Nations and Inter-American Commission of Human Rights.
Trung-Anh Nguyen, 2022 Jennifer Caldwell Fellow. Trung-Anh is a PhD student in International Studies, who will work with the UW Center for Human Rights to conduct quantitative research on immigration detention in the U.S.
