About

Treat is a MAIS student hailing from Leavenworth, Washington who has spent a third of his life living in the countries of Latvia and Japan. As an undergraduate student, he was elected to be an editor of the Winter 2022 Task Force “Nervous About a Nuclear Neighbor,” for which he also wrote a section on Russia-Japan relations. As a Master’s student, he looks to continue this research in addition to analyzing the effects of online discourses surrounding Post-Soviet countries in popular content. In between his periods of study, Treat worked to connect foreigners and locals as a Coordinator for International Relations (CIR) and Regional Advisor with the JET Program in Yonezawa, Japan. Outside of school, Treat enjoys reading novels in Japanese, planning trips to foreign countries, and exploring the Seattle area on foot and public transport.
