About

David Balaam has a Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of California, Santa Barbara. His research interests are in International Political Economy, Security Studies, Food and Hunger, Trade and Finance, and U.S. Foreign Policy. He is the co-author and co-editor with Bradford Dillman of the textbook Introduction to International Political Economy, Routledge, 6th edition. In 2007 he was a Fulbright fellow at the University of Bologna in Bologna, Italy.

Balaam taught for 31 years at the University of Puget Sound where he is a Professor emeritus in International Political Economy and Political Science. He is currently an affiliate of the JSIS program for who he has taught a number of courses.

He also recently taught an IPE course in the Political Science department. He directed a UW study abroad program in Rome in 2013 and is slated to do so again in 2016.
