About
Research & Professional Interests
My research focuses on improving the educational experiences of students with intellectual and developmental disabilities through research at the student and teacher level. At the student level I design and implement interventions designed to improve access to the general curriculum, particularly in literacy, for students with intellectual and developmental disabilities. At the teacher level I employ qualitative methodology to examine issues pertaining to teacher quality, use of evidence-based practices, and instructional context. My goal is that through a combination of intervention and qualitative research, I can contribute to establishing an evidence-base of instructional practices designed to promote access to the general curriculum for students with intellectual and developmental disabilities that will be feasible for teachers and practitioners to implement in inclusive classroom settings.
