Alumna wins 2-year Mellon/American Council of Learned Societies Fellowship

Indra Ekmanis (Ph.D., International Studies, 2017) has been named a Mellon/American Council of Learned Societies Fellow for a two-year full-time position as Associate Editor, Global Nation, Public Radio International. She is one of 24 selected from across the country and UK as a Fellow to serve in a top nonprofit organization or government agency.

While a student at the Jackson School, Ekmanis, who graduated in the second doctoral cohort, conducted research on cultural integration in former Soviet republics, including with a Fulbright to study minorities participation in culture in Latvia (Ekmanis is fluent in Latvian).

In addition, she has served as a Woodrow Wilson Center Fellow, among others, and has published numerous foreign policy articles.
