About IVEC and Virtual Exchange

IVEC is the largest and most prominent event on virtual exchange, providing a forum for an audience of instructors, administrators, instructional designers, and educational leaders from institutions around the world interested in technology, international education, and new pedagogies.

Virtual exchange (also known as Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL), Globally Networked Learning, or Telecollaboration) extends authentic opportunities for intercultural and transnational learning to students within K-16 classrooms, as well as through co-curricular activities. Through co-developed and co-taught modules, virtual exchange supports the development of 21st-century workforce skills and provides opportunities for applied learning experiences.

About the conference

The third annual International Virtual Exchange Conference (IVEC), held from October 27 – 29, 2021, is co-hosted by Drexel University and East Carolina University, in collaboration with the representative institutions on the IVEC Steering Committee: DePaul University, Durban Institute of Technology, FAUBAI Brazilian Association for International Education, SUNY COIL Center, UNICollaboration, Universidad de Monterrey, and University of Washington Bothell. It builds on a long history of successful COIL Conferences hosted by the SUNY COIL Center since 2007.

Due to ongoing COVID-19 concerns and the resulting uncertainty surrounding budgets and international travel, IVEC 2021 will be held completely online from 27-29 October 2021 to ensure the international nature of the conference.
