CGS Course Development Grants

The 2023 competition is now open. Apply by May 1, 2023.

The Center for Global Studies invites applications from UW faculty for course development grants that support new course development or major revision to existing courses in line with the funding priorities of our Title VI federal grant from the U.S. Department of Education. Preference will be given to new courses that focus on or incorporate our grant priority areas of inclusive health and education; environmental justice and climate change; technology, democracy, and security; and migration, displacement, and refugees.

CGS encourages proposals for courses that emphasize practice-based learning and that have a broad appeal. CGS will also prioritize proposals that emphasize concrete strategies and plans to address inclusion, diversity, and accessibility in a course.

Eligibility and amount:

Course development grants are awarded on a competitive basis, with the online application normally announced during Winter Quarter. UW faculty at all levels from all disciplines and campuses of the University of Washington are encouraged to apply. The amount per award is usually between $1,500 – $2,000. Faculty may submit only one application per year.
