Center for Global Studies Co-sponsors 2024 Seattle International Film Festival Documentary and Travessias Brazilian Film Festival

This past spring, the Center for Global Studies supported film festival programming for the Seattle International Film Festival (SIFF) and Travessias Brazilian Film Festival. SIFF 2024 ran from May 9 to May 19 and celebrated its 50th anniversary with a lineup of thrilling and engaging contemporary global films screened in cinemas across the Seattle area. The Center for Global Studies cosponsored the SIFF 2024 Kenyan documentary, The Battle for Laikipia (2024) which highlighted generational conflict between indigenous pastoralists and settler landowners in a wildlife conservation haven. SIFF programming for the 2024 festival featured the screening of 261 films from 84 countries/regions and included a range of feature films, documentaries, and short films.
