M.A. Candidate Daniel Rechtschaffen Awarded Critical Language Scholarship

China Studies M.A. candidate Daniel Rechtschaffen has been awarded a Critical Language Scholarship in Mandarin for summer 2017! This scholarship, awarded by the U.S. State Department, funds eight weeks of intensive study in languages that the State Department considers critical to U.S. national security. Daniel will spend this summer in China working with other Critical Language Scholarship recipients.

According to the CLS website:

The Critical Language Scholarship (CLS) Program is a fully funded summer overseas language and cultural immersion program for American undergraduate and graduate students. With the goal of broadening the base of Americans studying and mastering critical languages and building relationships between the people of the United States and other countries, CLS provides opportunities to a diverse range of students from across the United States at every level of language learning.
