Vanessa Freije awarded 2021 Palmegiano Book Prize by American Historical Association

Jackson School Assistant Professor of International Studies, Vanessa Freije, has been awarded the American Historical Association’s (AHA) Eugenia M. Palmegiano Prize for the most outstanding book published in English on any aspect of the history of journalism. Read the official announcement released by the AHA on Oct. 18, 2021.

Freije’s book, “Citizens of Scandal: Journalism, Secrecy, and the Politics of Reckoning in Mexico,” which was published by Duke University Press in Oct. 2020, explores the causes and consequences of political scandals in Mexico from the 1960s through the 1980s.
