Recently, local media published two articles on China featuring members of the JSIS community.
In her opinion piece for The Seattle Times, JSIS China Studies alumna Amy Sommers examines what President-elect Joe Biden could do to strengthen U.S. foreign policy toward China. She also highlights the value of the Jackson School’s China Program, stating that she “benefited from the University of Washington’s Jackson School of International Studies’ strong China studies capabilities before studying law and practicing in China for more than a decade.”
One of the experts quoted in Sommers’ article is Spencer Cohen, who earned his M.A. in China Studies and Geography at the University of Washington and is a senior economist with Community Attributes and World Affairs Council Seattle Fellow (2020-2021).
Relatedly, Northwest Asian Weekly quotes Professor David Bachman on U.S. – China relations in their feature, “Biden and China: Guarded optimism from local Chinese leaders.”
