April 9, 2021

In an article titled “An International Approach,” Director of the Jackson School Leela Fernandes is quoted on the meaning of transnational feminism and explains how using “the ethnography method—extensive on-the-ground field research—informs her approach to both feminism and international studies with the perspective that a deep understanding of particular places and context are needed.”

The article was published on March 31 by the online publication Parts & Labor, Issue 24: Rethinking Feminism. Parts & Labor is a twice-monthly newsletter about womxn in Seattle and the Pacific Northwest.

Leela was also recently quoted in a Bloomberg Business Week article, “Millions Are Tumbling Out of the Global Middle Class in Historic Setback” on how “the socioeconomic fragility” of India’s middle class has been exposed by the pandemic.
