The talk focuses on daughter adoption as one of the boundaries of family and marriage under study.<\/p>\n<h4><strong>Date:<\/strong> Thursday, October 29, 2026<\/h4>\n<h4><strong>Time:<\/strong> 3:30 &#8211; 5 p.m.<\/h4>\n<h4><strong>Location:<\/strong> Thomson Hall 317, University of Washington<\/h4>\n<p>Tadashi Ishikawa is Associate Professor of History at the University of Central Florida. His field of research is twentieth-century global Japan with a focus on gender, empire, law, and mobility. He is an author of\u00a0<em>Geographies of Gender: Family and Law in Imperial Japan and Colonial Taiwan<\/em>\u00a0(Cambridge University Press, 2025). The book received an honorable mention for the 2026 Book Prize by the Southeast Conference of the Association for Asian Studies.
