Taiwan-based semiconductor firm TSMC has responded to the recent US CHIPS Act by building a new fabrication plant on US soil. Taiwan and the US are on the cusp of signing a major bilateral trade deal.\u00a0 Meanwhile, the global economy is still reeling from multiple years of supply chain disruptions from the COVID pandemic and its effects on inflation.\u00a0 How will these changes affect Taiwan\u2019s businesses?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The conference opened with a keynote address by Ryan Hass of the Brookings Institution. Hass&#8217; remarks were followed by our first panel on supply chains featuring Tina Chen, Head of Strategic Sourcing at Swarovski, and John Hodowany, President of JC Grand, moderated by Professor Marie Anchordoguy. Day Two began with a panel discussing semiconductors moderated by Professor Debra Glassman. Professors Marie Anchordoguy and Suresh Kotha provided a rich depiction of the complexity of the semiconductor industry. Moderated by Professor James Lin, our final panel addressed US-Taiwan business relations more broadly. Director General Daniel K.C.
