Taipei, the capital city, earned the title of World Design Capital in 2016. Tainan, Taiwan&#8217;s oldest city, preserves the essence of Chinese culture in its temples, ancient streets, artisan studios, and tea houses.<\/p>\n<p>Design in Taiwan is hosted at Shih Chien University in Taipei and National Cheng Kung University in Tainan, both housing globally acclaimed design programs. The study abroad program, welcoming pre-majors and students from any discipline, spans three weeks in Taiwan. Participants can fulfill Arts and Humanities (A&amp;H) and Diversity (DIV) general education requirements while delving into a 5-credit program centered on<em> sustainable innovations through design, craft, and technology<\/em>. Topics covered include sustainable design practices, con\u00adtemporary craft designs, and technological product innovations, provid\u00ading a comprehensive understanding of Taiwan&#8217;s design culture. It incor\u00adporates field trips to a pottery town, bamboo craft center, museums, design studios, and hands-on experiences like tea ceremonies and indigo-dyeing. Also, collaborative design projects with local students offer a unique opportunity to engage with the community.<\/p>\n<p>Embark on this transformative journey and immerse yourself in Chinese culture, where the art of traditional Chinese characters is meticulously preserved.
