These slides came from the John Ryland Museum in Manchester, U.K. C\u0101nd\u0101yan is the very first masnav\u012b composed in Awadhi, the regional language of the eastern Gangetic plains. The story of C\u0101nd\u0101yan is adopted from a locally popular love narrative called Canain\u012b. Originally, an oral folktale, Canain\u012b is the story of C\u0101nd\u0101 and Lorik\u2019s love. These slides were the basis of\u00a0Naseem\u2019s recently published book <em>The English Translation of Chandayan<\/em>.
