{"id":8295,"date":"2021-09-28T17:27:58","date_gmt":"2021-09-28T17:27:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/jsis.washington.edu\/southasia\/?p=8295"},"modified":"2021-09-28T17:28:20","modified_gmt":"2021-09-28T17:28:20","slug":"nepali-global-classroom-2021","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/jsis.washington.edu\/southasia\/news\/nepali-global-classroom-2021\/","title":{"rendered":"Nepali in the Global Classroom: Summer 2021 Nepali Language Program by the Numbers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"750\" height=\"422\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/q4mLuG17ztg?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<h5>The Summer 2021 <a href=\"https:\/\/jsis.washington.edu\/southasia\/nepal\/programs\/language\/\">Nepali Language Program<\/a> was one of the largest global gatherings for Nepali language training &#8230;\u00a0<em>ever<\/em>.<\/h5>\n<p>This two-week online intensive language training program featured <strong>41<\/strong> students across <strong>2<\/strong>\u00a0language learning levels:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>24<\/strong> beginners<\/li>\n<li><strong>17<\/strong>\u00a0advanced beginners \/ low intermediate<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Participants hailed from <strong>7<\/strong> countries:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Bangladesh<\/li>\n<li>Canada<\/li>\n<li>China<\/li>\n<li>India<\/li>\n<li>Netherlands<\/li>\n<li>United Kingdom<\/li>\n<li>United States<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Participants included:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>artists<\/li>\n<li>college students<\/li>\n<li>heritage learners<\/li>\n<li>nonprofit professionals<\/li>\n<li>researchers<\/li>\n<li>teachers<\/li>\n<li>travelers<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The Nepali program featured <strong>conversation practice<\/strong>, <strong>grammar lessons<\/strong>, <strong>written assignments<\/strong>, and <strong>online games<\/strong>.
