Internationalize Your History and Current Issues Curricula <\/b>
\n<\/b><\/b><\/p>\n


\n<\/b>The Brown University <\/span>Choices Program<\/span><\/a>, with support from four <\/span>National Resource Centers<\/span><\/a> at the University of Washington, is hosting a series of <\/span>free<\/b> webinars for Washington high school teachers on the following units:<\/span>
\n<\/span>
\n<\/span>China on the World Stage: Weighing the U.S. Response<\/b>
\n<\/b><\/a>Tuesday, May 19, 5-6pm PST<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

Participants will be introduced to a unit which explores the history of U.S. relations with China and considers the implications of China\u2019s economic growth, societal transformation, and increasing international role. <\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The United States in Afghanistan<\/b>
\n<\/span><\/i><\/a>Wednesday, May 27, 5-6pm PST<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

Participants will be introduced to a unit which explores the history, culture, and geography of Afghanistan, including the arrival of the Taliban and al Qaeda and the U.S. role there since 2001.<\/span>
\n<\/span>
\n<\/span>Confronting Genocide: Never Again?<\/b>
\n<\/span><\/a>Tuesday, June 9, 5-6pm PST<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

Participants will be introduced to a unit which explores the evolution of the international community’s response to genocide and examine how the U.S. has responded to six cases of genocide.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The Choices Program draws on scholarship from Brown University to produce innovative curricula and videos that make contested international issues accessible, engaging, and relevant to secondary school audiences.<\/span><\/p>\n


\n<\/span>Supported by the <\/span>Center for Global Studies<\/span><\/a>, <\/span>East Asia Center<\/span><\/a>, <\/span>South Asia Center<\/span><\/a>, and <\/span>Southeast Asia Center<\/span><\/a> at the <\/span>Henry M. Jackson School of International Studies<\/span><\/a> at the University of Washington, these units will help you make the transition to online schooling.\u00a0 <\/span>
\n<\/span>
\n<\/span>Registration is free and available on a first come first served basis. Register now for one, two, or all three webinars.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

Up to 30 participants per webinar will receive a free two-year digital edition license of the featured Choices curriculum unit. To be eligible for this opportunity, teachers must submit a short implementation plan after participating in the webinar (only one free unit per teacher will be awarded). Units are also available for purchase directly from the <\/b>Choices Program<\/b><\/a>.<\/b><\/p>\n
