Chicago Ethnography Incubator
University of Chicago

Each year, the Incubator invites four faculty fellows and six graduate student fellows to the University of Chicago to participate in a two-day panel and workshop series. The Incubator is designed to advance ethnographic methodologies, provide hands-on mentorship to graduate student fellows, and build an interdisciplinary community of ethnographers. Applications from graduate students in any discipline who are engaged in dissertation-level, ethnographic research, are welcome.

The Qualitative Research Summer Intensive (QRSI)
University of North Carolina Chapel Hill

This annual 5-day short course series cosponsored by the Odum Institute and ResearchTalk, Inc. takes place at the Carolina Inn in Chapel Hill, NC. This is an opportunity to gain both theoretical and practical understanding of qualitative inquiry. The event includes five days of qualitative research professional development courses and networking opportunities.

International Congress of Qualitative Inquiry (ICQI)
University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign

ICQI is a congress held annually at the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign (UIUC). Its mission is to facilitate the development of qualitative research methods across a wide variety of academic disciplines. In addition, it provides leadership to demonstrate the promise of qualitative inquiry as a form of democratic practice, to show how qualitative inquiry can be used to directly engage pressing social issues at the level of local, state, national and global communities.

Summer Workshop in Qualitative Methods
University of California, Berkeley

The Center for Ethnographic Research (CER) Summer Workshop provides mentorship, hands-on research experience, and advanced training in designing and executing a project using qualitative methods for motivated undergraduates and beginning graduate students. Applications for this May-June workshop are reviewed in March.

The Institute for Qualitative and Multi-Method Research (IQMR)
Syracuse University

The institute seeks to enable participants to create and critique methodologically sophisticated qualitative research designs, including case studies, tests of necessity or sufficiency, and narrative or interpretive work. Deadlines for the annual June Institute are in November of the previous year.
