About

Peg Cheng (she/her) is the Assistant Director of Student Services at the University of Washington Jackson School of International Studies (UW JSIS) Office of Academic Services (OAS). Here’s how to say her name.

Here at JSIS OAS, I… manage career services, alumni relations, and scholarships. This includes meeting with students, alumni, and employers; publishing the JSIS-JOBS newsletter; teaching and facilitating workshops; coordinating the JSIS scholarship process; and working across the UW and beyond to help JSIS students develop professionally and launch their careers. In addition, I’m one of the JSIS liaisons for APSIA (Association of Professional Schools in International Affairs).

I like thinking about and studying… the metaphysical realm, personal development, human potential, financial independence, storytelling, writing, TV shows and movies, vegan baking, health and healing, gardening and plants, and creative people in their 70s, 80s, 90s, and 100s.

My first year in college… was both thrilling and challenging! I loved the freedom of being on my own, meeting loads of people, and exploring new places, but I also had a rude awakening with my rickety studying skills and tendency to procrastinate. I ultimately learned by the end of my first year that my beliefs dictate my actions, consistency is key, and to ask for help early and often.

Fun facts: I’ve worked in 35+ jobs, have incredible listening and smelling skills, love recommending restaurants to people, and run a micro publishing company with my hubs.
