The winner receives a special prize and recognition at the LACS End of the Year party, and their essay is featured in our news section of our website.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Essay Contest Status: OPEN<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000\"><strong>Deadline for submission to LACS essay contest: SPRING 2025<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>The Latin American and Caribbean Studies Program is inviting submissions by students interested in the Latin America and\/or Caribbean regions to its seventh Annual UW-LACS Undergraduate\u00a0Essay Competition.<\/p>\n<p>The competition is for current or recent essays (written during 2023-2024 school year). The winning essay writer will receive a special prize and be recognized at the LACS End of the Year party. In addition, the winning essay will be featured on our website.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The subject of the\u00a0essay should fall within the field of Latin American and Caribbean Studies.\u00a0Essays\u00a0may be of any length.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Submissions must be from a student majoring or minoring in LACS.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Include your full name, home department, email and phone number in the submission.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Please submit your\u00a0essay\u00a0to\u00a0<a href=\"mailto:lasuw@uw.edu\">lasuw@uw.edu<\/a>\u00a0by\u00a0<strong>May 22nd, 2024<\/strong> with the <strong>subject line: &#8220;Essay Competition &#8211; 2024, [your last name]&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Essays\u00a0should be pasted into the body of the email and attached as a Word document.<\/p>\n<p>Thank you and we look forward to your submissions!<\/p>\n<p>Regards,<\/p>\n<p>LACS<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Every\u00a0year LACS holds an\u00a0annual essay contest for undergraduate students studying Latin America or the Caribbean.
