Johnson Endowed Fund in Latin America and Caribbean Studies was established December 5, 2016 to provide broad-based direct financial support to undergraduate and graduate students affiliated with the University of Washington\u2019s Latin American and Caribbean Studies program in the Henry M. Jackson School of International Studies. The funds will support student travel and study for individualized research, scholarly conference presentations, study abroad programs, or language classes.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Eligibility<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Peter T. Johnson Fund for Latin American and Caribbean Studies is open to undergraduate and graduate students registered at the University of Washington in any Latin America and Caribbean related courses, with priority given to LACS majors or minors.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Awards<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>$500 to $1,000 each<\/p>\n<p><strong>Selection criteria<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A selection committee comprised of three LACS faculty members will select the Peter T. Johnson Fund awardees. The committee will base their decision on the scholarly merit, feasibility, and fit of the project with the <a href=\"https:\/\/jsis.washington.edu\/latinam\/about\/our-mission\/\">Latin American and Caribbean Studies Program\u2019s mission<\/a>. The committee will determine the number of awardees\u00a0and the amount of individual awards.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Application materials<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A written proposal (500 words) describing your proposed activity<\/li>\n<li>Short explanation (250 words) of the project&#8217;s significance for your academic and\/or professional goals<\/li>\n<li>Budget and other sources of funding<\/li>\n<li>Name and contact information for one professional reference<\/li>\n<li>Resume or CV<\/li>\n<li>Official or unofficial transcripts from all colleges or universities attended<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Apply now\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>To apply, submit an online application through the College of Arts and Sciences scholarships web platform: <a href=\"https:\/\/apply.cas.uw.edu\/browse\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">apply.cas.uw.edu\/browse<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Questions? <\/strong><strong>Please contact lasuw@uw.edu.<\/strong><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: left\"><span style=\"color: #333399\">Congratulations to our 2026 Peter T.
