<\/p>\nFor this year’s Korean Peninsula Forum, Professor Won Deog Lee of Kookmin University (Seoul, South Korea) will discuss the current relationship between South Korea and Japan, and present possible solutions that can be implemented to resolve the issues between the two neighboring countries.<\/p>\n

Professor Lee is currently a Professor at Kookmin University\u2019s Department of Japanese Studies.\u00a0 He received his B.A. and M.A. in international politics from Seoul National University and his Ph.D in international relations from the University of Tokyo.\u00a0 Since then, he served as a visiting professor at the University of Tokyo in 2005 and 2013, and was the director of the Institute of Japanese Studies at Kookmin University from 2007 to 2018.\u00a0 His main interests include contemporary Japanese Politics and Korean-Japanese relations.\u00a0 He has published and edited many works, including Reflections on the 50 years of Korea-Japan Relations(2017), History of Korea-Japan Relations 1965-2015(2015), Common Perceptions of Japan and Korea(2007), What is Japan to Korea(2006) and the Origin of the Post-war Settlements Between Korea and Japan(1996).<\/p>\n
The Korean Peninsula Forum will be held in the Walker-Ames room of Kane Hall on November 22, 2019 from 5:30pm – 8:30pm.\u00a0 The forum will begin with a reception, followed by Professor Lee’s talk and a Q&A\/Panel discussion.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
