The University of Washington-Korea Studies Program, in collaboration with Rowman & Littlefield Publishers, is proud to publish the Journal of Korean Studies<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\nThe Journal of Korean Studies<\/em><\/a> began at the University of Washington and was published in Korea (Dong-A Publishing Company) in 1969. The original series had 2 issues Volume 1 No. 1 (1969) and Volume 1 No. 2 (1971) were edited by Dr. David Mesler.<\/p>\nIn 1979, Dr. James Palais (PhD Harvard 1968), former UW professor of Korean History edited and published Volumes 1-5 of the second series of the Journal of Korean Studies<\/em>, Volumes 6-8 1988-92 were edited by Mike Robinson. For thirteen years it was a leading academic forum for innovative, in-depth research on Korea. In 2004, editors Gi-Wook Shin and John Duncan revived this outstanding publication at Stanford University and published Volumes 9-13.<\/p>\nIn August 2008 editorial responsibility transferred back to the University of Washington. With the editorial guidance of Clark Sorensen and Donald Baker, the Journal of Korean Studies<\/em> (JKS) continues to be dedicated to publishing outstanding articles, from all disciplines, on a broad range of historical and contemporary topics concerning Korea. In Fall 2016, editorship will transfer to Charles Armstrong and Theodore Hughes at the Center for Korea Research\/Columbia University<\/a>.<\/p>\nArticles appearing in the JKS are abstracted and indexed in the Social Sciences Citation Index (SSCI), Arts and Humanities Citation Index\u00ae (A & HCI), Sociological Abstracts, Social Services Abstracts, Worldwide Political Science Abstracts, PAIS International, Linguistics and Language Behavior Abstracts, Bibliography of Asian Studies, Historical Abstracts, and America: History and Life.<\/p>\n

The original series had 2 issues Volume 1 No. 1 (1969) and Volume 1 No. 2 (1971) were edited by Dr. David Mesler.<\/p>\nIn 1979, Dr. James Palais (PhD Harvard 1968), former UW professor of Korean History edited and published Volumes 1-5 of the second series of the Journal of Korean Studies<\/em>, Volumes 6-8 1988-92 were edited by Mike Robinson. For thirteen years it was a leading academic forum for innovative, in-depth research on Korea. In 2004, editors Gi-Wook Shin and John Duncan revived this outstanding publication at Stanford University and published Volumes 9-13.<\/p>\nIn August 2008 editorial responsibility transferred back to the University of Washington. With the editorial guidance of Clark Sorensen and Donald Baker, the Journal of Korean Studies<\/em> (JKS) continues to be dedicated to publishing outstanding articles, from all disciplines, on a broad range of historical and contemporary topics concerning Korea. The University of Washington-Korea Studies Program, in collaboration with Rowman & Littlefield Publishers, is proud to publish the Journal of Korean Studies<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\nThe Journal of Korean Studies<\/em><\/a> began at the University of Washington and was published in Korea (Dong-A Publishing Company) in 1969. The original series had 2 issues Volume 1 No. 1 (1969) and Volume 1 No. 2 (1971) were edited by Dr. David Mesler.<\/p>\nIn 1979, Dr. James Palais (PhD Harvard 1968), former UW professor of Korean History edited and published Volumes 1-5 of the second series of the Journal of Korean Studies<\/em>, Volumes 6-8 1988-92 were edited by Mike Robinson. For thirteen years it was a leading academic forum for innovative, in-depth research on Korea. In 2004, editors Gi-Wook Shin and John Duncan revived this outstanding publication at Stanford University and published Volumes 9-13.<\/p>\nIn August 2008 editorial responsibility transferred back to the University of Washington. With the editorial guidance of Clark Sorensen and Donald Baker, the Journal of Korean Studies<\/em> (JKS) continues to be dedicated to publishing outstanding articles, from all disciplines, on a broad range of historical and contemporary topics concerning Korea. In Fall 2016, editorship will transfer to Charles Armstrong and Theodore Hughes at the Center for Korea Research\/Columbia University<\/a>.<\/p>\nArticles appearing in the JKS are abstracted and indexed in the Social Sciences Citation Index (SSCI), Arts and Humanities Citation Index\u00ae (A & HCI), Sociological Abstracts, Social Services Abstracts, Worldwide Political Science Abstracts, PAIS International, Linguistics and Language Behavior Abstracts, Bibliography of Asian Studies, Historical Abstracts, and America: History and Life.<\/p>\n
The Journal of Korean Studies is dedicated to quality articles, in all disciplines, on a broad range of topics concerning Korea, both historical and contemporary.<\/p>\n
