Davis Cross and <a href=\"https:\/\/jsis.washington.edu\/people\/saadia-pekkanen\/\"><strong>Saadia M. Pekkanen<\/strong><\/a> editors.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to the introduction by co-editors, S. Pekkanen has also written one of the 11 research articles, entitled <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/brill.com\/view\/journals\/hjd\/18\/2-3\/article-p282_4.xml\">&#8216;Japan\u2019s Space Diplomacy in a World of Great Power Competition&#8217;<\/a><\/strong>.\u00a0 <strong><em>PLUS podcast<\/em><\/strong> interview on this topic (link below.)<\/p>\n<p>This article probes Japan\u2019s space diplomacy in a world returned to great power competition. Today, Japan\u2019s space diplomacy manifests in a wide variety of contexts at the global, regional and bilateral levels. The principal argument is that the Japanese state is responding to gathering external threats through diplomacy that communicates, persuades and bargains in the country\u2019s science, economic and military space interests.
