On January 13th, he shared his insight and work related to the rebuilding efforts of post 3.11. Abe is professor and chair of the UCLA Department of Architecture &amp; Urban Design and the Paul I. and Hisako Terasaki Chair in the Study of Contemporary Japan. Known for architecture that is spatially complex and structurally innovative, the work of Atelier Hitoshi Abe has been published internationally and received numerous awards in Japan and internationally.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/player.vimeo.com\/video\/153842592?dnt=1&amp;app_id=122963\" width=\"750\" height=\"422\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"autoplay; fullscreen\" allowfullscreen title=\"Hitoshi Abe - Sustaining Japan: 3.11 Five Years On\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p class=\"first\">On January 14, panelists spoke in response to the lecture by Hitoshi Abe of the previous evening, giving their own insight and lessons learned during five years of recovery efforts since the March 11, 2011 disasters in Japan. The discussion was moderated by Ken Tadashi Oshima, UW Department of Architecture.
