{"id":1310,"date":"2017-08-01T17:57:24","date_gmt":"2017-08-01T17:57:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/jsis.washington.edu\/japan\/?p=1310"},"modified":"2017-11-03T16:31:05","modified_gmt":"2017-11-03T16:31:05","slug":"new-japan-resources-added-east-asia-library","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/jsis.washington.edu\/japan\/news\/new-japan-resources-added-east-asia-library\/","title":{"rendered":"New Japan Resources added at the East Asia Library"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The East Asia Library are pleased to announce that they have recently added two new databases to their collection; <em>Web Oya-bunko<\/em> and <em>The Japan Times Archives<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><em>Web Oya-bunko<\/em> primarily holds popular magazines from the Meiji Era and onwards, and the titles of all the magazines included in this database can be found <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.oya-bunko.or.jp\/magazine\/for_index\/tabid\/90\/Default.aspx\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">here<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><em>The Japan Times<\/em> meanwhile, is Japan\u2019s largest english language newspaper. The East Asia Library now has access to <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">digitized issues of <em>The Japan Times, <\/em>as well as<em> The Japan Advertiser, The Japan Times &amp; Mail, The Japan Times and Advertiser<\/em>, and <em>The Nippon Times. <\/em>The database\u00a0includes issues from as far back as March 22, 1897 and access to this database can be found <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/alliance-primo.hosted.exlibrisgroup.com\/primo_library\/libweb\/action\/dlDisplay.do?vid=UW&amp;search_scope=all&amp;docId=CP71254359720001451&amp;fn=permalink\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">here<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">These databases are the newest additions to an already extensive Japanese collection at the East Asia Library. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The collection includes over <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">162,000 individual volumes, as well as access to hundreds of databases that give students access to films, newspapers, maps and articles written in both Japanese and English.
