Applications for the University of Wisconsin’s Central Eurasian Studies Summer Institute<\/a> (CESSI) are now open!<\/p>\n

CESSI is an intensive, eight-week language program held each summer in Madison, Wisconsin.\u00a0 Students receive the equivalent of one year of language study during this time and earn eight credits upon completion of the program.\u00a0 In addition to language classes, CESSI<\/span> students\u00a0have the opportunity to<\/span>\u00a0attend lectures on Central Eurasia; participate in cultural events; engage with local Central Eurasian communities; and network with other scholars of Central Eurasia.\u00a0 Students of all disciplines and academic programs are welcome!<\/span><\/p>\n

CESSI 2021 WILL BE HELD FROM JUNE 14 TO AUGUST 6, 2021<\/strong><\/p>\n

CESSI<\/span> typically offers courses in\u00a0<\/span>Kazakh, Tajik, Uyghur, and Uzbek<\/span>.\u00a0 Additional Central Eurasian languages (such as Azeri or Kyrgyz) may be added with\u00a0<\/span>sufficient<\/span>\u00a0student interest.<\/span><\/p>\n

Several funding opportunities exist for undergraduates and graduate students, researchers, and working professionals.\u00a0 Graduate students (including incoming students), post-baccalaureate researchers, and professionals who are U.S. citizens are especially encouraged to apply for the Title VIII fellowship, which covers full tuition plus a stipend of $2,500<\/strong> for the summer.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

The priority application deadline is\u00a0<\/span>February 1, 2021.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
