ARCTIC 200 –\u00a0Indigenous Diplomacies & International Relations in the Arctic is open for Winter 2019 enrollment!<\/a><\/h3>\n

This course<\/a> introduces students to international relations in the Arctic, with an emphasis on understanding them from the perspective of the region\u2019s indigenous peoples. In this course you will:<\/p>\n

\u2022 Study dramatic environmental, economic, and social transformations in the Arctic
\n\u2022 Learn about emerging geopolitical issues
\n\u2022 Explore indigenous perspectives on international relations in the Arctic
\n\u2022 Challenge yourself to understand international frameworks through the lens of indigenous knowledge systems<\/p>\n

\n

The ARCTIC 200 course meets MW 9:30 – 11:20 a.m.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Instructor Jason Young<\/a> studies the political implications of the use of digital technologies by Inuit, Canadian citizens, scientists, and policymakers to discuss and implement environmental management strategies in response to climate change in the Arctic. He has also spent time studying Inuktitut in Igloolik, Canada.<\/p>\n

This course counts towards the Arctic Studies minor.<\/p>\n
