Diversity in Study Abroad Workshop held on-campus at the UW Husky Union Building (February 9, 2024)<\/strong><\/h2>\n

On February 9, 2024, the Center for Global Studies welcomed educators and administrators from Washington state community colleges and universities to the UW campus to participate in a half-day workshop centered on diversity and accessibility in study abroad programs. UW Center for Global Studies welcomes Albinism Rights Advocate I.K. Ero to University of Washington Campus for Public Lecture (February 7, 2024)\u00a0<\/strong><\/h2>\n

This past February, Ikponwosa (I.K.) Ero, the first United Nations Independent Expert on the enjoyment of human rights by persons with albinism (2015 \u2013 2021), was welcomed by the Center for Global Studies & UW Disability Studies to the University of Washington campus to give a public lecture titled “Human Rights in Practice: An overview of the journey to protect people with albinism in Africa and globally.” To learn more about Ms. Ero\u2019s presentation and ground-breaking human rights work, visit this page<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

UW Center for Global Studies cosponsors documentary film “The Battle for Laikipia” at 2024 Seattle International Film Festival<\/strong><\/h2>\n

This past May, the annual Seattle International Film Festival (SIFF) celebrated its 50th run with a lineup of thrilling and engaging new films from the global theater brought to Seattle from May 9 to May 19. The Center for Global Studies cosponsored the new Kenyan documentary, The Battle for Laikipia (2024).
