About:\u00a0<\/strong>This course introduces students to international relations in the Arctic, with an emphasis on understanding IR from the perspective of the region\u2019s Indigenous peoples. Students will study dramatic environmental, economic, and social transformations in the Arctic; learn about emerging geopolitical issues; explore Indigenous perspectives on international relations in the Arctic; and challenge themselves to understand international frameworks through the lens of Indigenous knowledge systems.\u00a0Counts towards the interdisciplinary\u00a0Arctic Studies minor<\/a>.<\/p>\n

UW students, register for this exciting course sponsored by the European Union’s Erasmus+\u00a0Programme and the UW Center for Global Studies!<\/p>\n

\n

\n

This class\u00a0is a practicum focused on the current, real-world policy issues and international negotiations of the European Union, as well as the theory of international negotiation, public policy and the politics surrounding policy formation.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Participants will research and write in small groups to prepare policy documents on a current international issue, and engage in\u00a0simulated negotiations with students representing different nations, following instructions from and reporting to national leaders.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
