Harriet Sanders
About
Harriet Sanders is a fourth-year undergraduate student at the University of Washington. She is majoring in Global and Regional Studies with concentrations in Political Economy and European Studies, and is also pursuing an Anthropology minor.
Harriet grew up in Seattle, and has thoroughly enjoyed experiencing a new side of the city during her time at the University of Washington. She is extremely interested in the topics of democracy and illiberal backsliding all over the world, and has spent her time while at the University of Washington investigating related events in Europe. In April, Harriet will be presenting her research on integration in Germany at the European Union Center of California in Claremont. She is currently also working as an undergraduate research assistant in a UW Ph. D. dissertation project on civil society engagement in the European Union. Harriet has also been a contributing writer on the staff of UW’s student-run travel magazine, Voyage, for the past two years.
After graduating, Harriet hopes to travel internationally before returning to school to continue her International Studies education at the graduate level.
