Women make enormous contributions to economies, whether in businesses, on farms, as entrepreneurs and employees, or by unpaid work in the home. Women also remain disproportionately affected by poverty, discrimination and exploitation. The panel, featuring PhD student <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washington.edu\/undergradresearch\/guadalupe-tovar\/\">Guadalupe Tovar<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/jsis.washington.edu\/people\/sabine-lang\/\">Professor Sabine Lang<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.gatesfoundation.org\/Who-We-Are\/General-Information\/Leadership\/Global-Growth-and-Opportunity\/Sarah-Hendriks\">Sarah Hendriks<\/a>\u00a0from the Bill and Melinda Gates foundation,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.icrw.org\/staff-members\/sarah-gammage\/\">Sarah Gammage<\/a>\u00a0from the International Center for Research on Women (ICRW), and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.worldvision.org\/about-us\/media-contacts\/margaret-schuler\">Margret Schuler<\/a>\u00a0from World Vision, discussed these topics and much more during their time.<\/p>\n<p>The keynote speaker, <a href=\"http:\/\/kongehuset.dk\/en\/the-royal-house\/crown-prince-couple\/hrh-the-crown-princess\">Crown Princess Mary of Denmark<\/a>, delivered a speech focused on the need for investment in women\u2019s economic empowerment, as a means of addressing gender inequality, poverty eradication, and inclusive economic growth. HRH&#8217;s speech was followed by a dynamic discussion featuring the above mentioned panelists, and was moderated by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.icrw.org\/staff-members\/sarah-degnan-kambou\/\">Dr. Sarah Degnan Kambou<\/a>\u00a0from the ICRW. Concluding remarks were delivered by the Danish Foreign Minister <a href=\"http:\/\/um.dk\/en\/about-us\/the-ministers\/minister-for-foreign-affairs\/\">Anders Samuelsen<\/a>.
