Are you interested in talking to other teachers about educational issues beyond classroom management? Do you get excited about topics such as immigration, youth culture, notions of the “other” in national identity formation, and education in rural vs. urban contexts? Are you curious about differences in education between the\u00a0US\u00a0and other developed (and developing) nations? If so, we invite you to join a\u00a012-week online program<\/b>:\u00a0“Transatlantic Educators Dialogue, 2018”.<\/b><\/p>\n

This project is coordinated by the European Union Center at the\u00a0University\u00a0of\u00a0Illinois\u00a0at Urbana-Champaign<\/a>. We are recruiting teachers in the\u00a0US\u00a0and Europe to come together once a week (Sundays\u00a012noon-1:30 pm CST<\/span><\/span>\u00a0in the US) in online sessions to explore a variety of educational topics as they relate to issues of identity and difference. Participants will meet simultaneously online using the Blackboard Collaborate\u00a0application; in addition, prior to each session, participants are expected access an online course website to read materials and post responses related to the week’s topic.<\/p>\n

The “Transatlantic Educators Dialogue” (TED) program will begin on\u00a0February 11, 2018<\/span><\/span>\u00a0and will conclude on\u00a0May 6, 2018<\/span><\/span>. Online sessions are 90 minutes. Weekly attendance is not mandatory, but expected and helpful as discussion sessions will be more productive when a variety of perspectives are shared.<\/p>\n

All participants enrolled in the program will receive a Certificate of Completion.\u00a0Up to 30 non-credit professional development contact hours will be recognized:<\/p>\n

Up to\u00a030 non-credit Professional Development Hours (PDH)<\/b>\u00a0for Illinois teachers;<\/p>\n

Up to\u00a03.0 Non-credit University of Illinois Continuing Education Units (CEU) for 30 contact hours<\/b>\u00a0for non-Illinois teachers.<\/p>\n

There is no application or participation fee for TED. There is no cost to participate. TED is FREE!<\/b><\/p>\n
