Isatou Jallow<\/a> <\/strong>(LL.M Sustainable International Development Law \u201917) was named a Husky 100<\/a> Recipient which recognizes undergraduate and graduate students for the work they do both inside and outside the classroom.\u00a0Ms. Jallow\u00a0serves on the City of Seattle Immigrant and Refugee Commission, and received a FLAS fellowship from the Center for European Studies to support\u00a0her study of the French language and of French law and policy, particularly regarding the practice of Female Genital Mutilation.\u00a0 She told the Husky 100:<\/p>\n

\n

\u201cAs a black Muslim immigrant woman who went through Female Genital Mutilation (FGM), who suffered discrimination due to a disability, and who was homeless for over three years, I am happy to receive an education in an inclusive institution which has allowed me to serve others in similar situations.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

FLAS Fellowships are funded by the\u00a0International and Foreign Language Education Office<\/a> of the U.S. Department of Education. FLAS fellowships support undergraduate, graduate and professional students in acquiring modern foreign languages and area or international studies competencies.
