Jackson School of International Studies is pleased to announce a special Summer study abroad program hosted by\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/chs.harvard.edu\/CHS\/article\/display\/44?menuId=78\" target=\"_blank\">Harvard University\u2019s Center for Hellenic Studies in Greece<\/a> and the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.acg.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\">American College of Greece<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\">The program builds on the exceptional work done by UW students in Greece this past summer who studied the plight of the Roma (\u2018Gypsies\u2019 to many, a pejorative term). The Roma are the most persecuted, discriminated and marginalized ethnic group in Europe, despite being on the continent for over 1,000 years.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\">The program offers students 15 credits and involves holding discussions and conversations with local officials of the beautiful resort town of Napflion who are making efforts to de-marginalize the Roma community. We will also promote a \u201clegacy project\u201d to further bring positive change into the community.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\"><em><strong>Fast Facts:\u00a0<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><em>The program runs from June 22 to August, 2017 and costs $5,500.<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>Costs includes all hotel accommodations (with buffet breakfast), all group travel, several group meals, airport pickups upon\u00a0<\/em><em>arrival, group excursions to Olympia, Mycenae, the islands of Aegina, Hydra and Spetses, the Acropolis and the New Acropolis\u00a0<\/em><em>Museum, metro passes and group museum visits. It does not include airfare.
