The event was organized by Professor&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/jsis.washington.edu\/cwes-euc\/people\/steve-pfaff\/\">Steve Pfaff<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/soc.washington.edu\/people\/edgar-kiser\">Edgar Kiser<\/a> of UW&#8217;s Sociology department and brought together distinguished scholars from around the world, including\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/jsis.washington.edu\/cwes-euc\/people\/stefano-sacchi\/\">Stefano Sacchi<\/a>\u00a0(Universita degli Studi di Torino),\u00a0Ignacio Sanchez-Cuenca (Juan Carlos III University, Madrid),\u00a0Orfeo Fioretos (Temple University), Carolyn Warner (Arizona State University), Alison Johnston (Oregon State University), Apostolis Papakostas (Sodertorn University, Stockholm), and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/jsis.washington.edu\/cwes-euc\/people\/james-caporaso\/\">Jim Caporaso<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/jsis.washington.edu\/cwes-euc\/people\/christine-ingebritsen\/\">Christine Ingebritsen<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/jsis.washington.edu\/cwes-euc\/people\/taso-lagos\/\">Taso Lagos<\/a>,\u00a0Beatrice Magistro, and\u00a0Kevin Aslett from the University of Washington.<\/p>\n<p>The conference focused on the varying aspects of Europe&#8217;s sovereign debt crisis with an emphasis on the underlying causes of the crisis and the reforms taking place in response to the crisis. The conference was made possible with the support of CES, the EU Center, the Department of Political Science, the Department of Spanish and Portuguese Studies, and the Henry M.
