He is responsible for Horizon 2020 programmes on the digital transformation of key industrial sectors, including in particular in agri-food, smart energy and mobility. In the new Horizon Europe and DIGITAL programmes, he coordinates the developments on the next generation IoT as well as on data spaces and digital industrial platforms for the above sectors.<u><\/u><u><\/u><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"m_2510992534664227310MsoPlainText\"><span lang=\"EN-US\">In his previous roles at the Commission, Max Lemke had a leading role in developing and coordinating the Digitising European Industry strategy, and was involved in the development of the European Strategy for Artificial Intelligence. He was responsible for embedded and cyber-physical systems, advanced computing, and ICT for manufacturing (Industry 4.0). He was co-responsible for the joint technology initiative ECSEL (Electronic Components and Systems for European Leadership) and the public-private partnership Factories of the Future. In the latter context, he has gradually built the I4MS (ICT Innovation for Manufacturing SMEs) initiative.<u><\/u><u><\/u><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"m_2510992534664227310MsoPlainText\"><span lang=\"EN-US\">Max has a scientific background in numerical mathematics, high-performance computing, and software engineering. He holds diploma in Mathematics and Computer Science, as well as a Doctorate in Natural Sciences. Jackson School for International Studies and a Visiting Professor at the U.S. Army War College. Her current teaching and research focus is on cyber and energy security and NATO policy, and she is currently a co-lead for a NATO project on \u201cEnergy Security in an Era of Hybrid Warfare\u201d. She joins the Jackson School from UW\u2019s Communications Leadership faculty, where she teaches on emerging technology, big data and disinformation. Montgomery\u00a0is an author, geoscientist, and affiliate faculty member in the Jackson School of International Studies, University of Washington. He writes and lectures on a wide variety of topics related to energy (geopolitics, technology, resources, climate change), American politics, intellectual history, language and communication, and the history of science. He is a frequent contributor to online journals such as The Conversation, Forbes, and Fortune, and his articles and op-eds are regularly featured in many outlets, including Newsweek, Marketwatch, The Huffington Post, and UPI. He also gives public talks and serves on panels related to issues in global energy and their relation to political and economic trends and ideas of sustainability.
