Ellison Memorial Lecture. In her lecture, Dr. Farkas discussed the current state of affairs between the United States and Russia, and highlighted the steps the United States could take to counter Russian aggression. Dr. Farkas&#8217;\u00a0full lecture is available <a href=\"https:\/\/soundcloud.com\/ellisoncenteruw\/evelyn-farkas-perils-of-putins-russia-why-america-needs-to-counter-russia-and-how-5062016\">here as a podcast<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/ellisoncenter.washington.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/DSC_0025.jpg\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-7554\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-7554 alignleft\" src=\"http:\/\/ellisoncenter.washington.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/DSC_0025-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"DSC_0025\" width=\"486\" height=\"324\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>From 2012 to 2015, Farkas served at the Pentagon as Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense and was responsible for conventional arms control policy towards Russia and Eurasia. Currently, she is a Nonresident Senior Fellow at the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.atlanticcouncil.org\/about\/experts\/list\/evelyn-farkas\">Atlantic Council\u2019s Future Europe Initiative<\/a>.
