Glennys\u00a0Young\u00a0was gave a lecture on the Global Cold War and Washington State at the Ellison Center\u2019s Master Teacher Workshop<\/a> in October 2017 and will participate in the upcoming symposium, Glasnost & Goodwill: Citizen Diplomacy in the Northwest<\/a> held in conjunction with the ongoing exhibit by the same name at the Washington State History Museum in Tacoma, WA. The symposium will take place on January 20, 2018.<\/p>\n

Glennys Young is a historian of Russia and the Soviet Union and a professor in the History Department and the Jackson School of International Studies at the University of Washington. Over the course of her career, she has become increasingly interested in the USSR\u2019s involvement in transnational movements and processes, whether political, social, cultural, or economic. She has also pursued research interests in the history of Communism and world history. She has published articles on a number of topics in Soviet social and political history. She has written books on the Russian Revolution and communism in the 20th<\/sup>\u00a0century. Her most recent book project is titled\u00a0Refugee Worlds: The Spanish Civil War, Soviet Socialism, Franco\u2019s Spain, and Memory Politics<\/em>.<\/p>\n
