Individual proposal submissions will be grouped into panels with a common theme.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Individual Paper Proposals:<\/strong> Individuals who are not part of a pre-formed panel should submit their proposal using the Call for Proposals Form.\u00a0Upon acceptance, individual presenters and chairs will be required to register separately for the conference using a distinct <strong>Conference Registration Form<\/strong>, which will become live after the proposal acceptance announcement date.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Panel Proposals:<\/strong> Panel chairs should gather their individual panelist information (name, email, affiliation, presentation title) and submit that on behalf of all panelists using the <strong>Call for Proposals Form<\/strong>. Upon acceptance, individual presenters and chairs will be required to register separately for the conference using a distinct <strong>Conference Registration Form<\/strong>, which will become live after the proposal acceptance announcement date.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Roundtable Proposals:<\/strong> Roundtable chairs should gather their individual speakers&#8217; information (name, email, affiliation, presentation title) and submit that on behalf of all roundtable participants using the <strong>Call for Proposals Form<\/strong>. Upon acceptance, individual presenters and chairs will be required to register separately for the conference using a distinct <strong>Conference Registration Form<\/strong>, which will become live after the proposal acceptance announcement date.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\"><b>REECAS NW Conference panels will be\u00a0<strong>one hour and\u00a0forty-five minutes in length.\u00a0<\/strong>A panel should consist of:<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\">Chair, allotted a total of five minutes for panel and presenter introductions;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\">Three paper presenters, allotted 20 minutes each, or four paper presenters, allotted 15 minutes each;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\">Discussant, allotted 10 minutes (in some cases the Chair and Discussant roles may be performed by the same person);<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\">Followed by 30 minutes for questions and group discussion.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\"><strong>As a general rule:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\">Applicants&#8217; <strong>paper proposals<\/strong> should be limited to 250 words and be submitted through the online Proposal Submission Form.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\"><strong>For an average 20-minute presentation<\/strong><\/span>, paper presenters should prepare papers no longer than 8 pages, double-spaced; <strong><span style=\"color: #000000\">for an average 15-minute presentation<\/span><\/strong>, paper presenters should prepare papers no longer than 6 pages, double-spaced; <span style=\"color: #000000\"><strong>for an average 12-minutes presentation<\/strong><\/span>, paper presenters should prepare papers no longer than 5 pages, double-spaced. <em>Presentations requiring additional explanation of data or images should be shorter.<\/em> Panelists who send works longer than what they will actually present pose an undue burden on their discussant.<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\"><strong>All presenters planning to show slides or other audio visual materials should bring their own laptop computers and appropriate dongles to connect to an HDMI cable.\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\">In the interest of efficiency, the <strong>Chair and Discussant roles are usually combined at the REECAS Northwest conference<\/strong>. Panel Chairs are requested to please read their panel&#8217;s papers ahead of time and be prepared to comment on them and\/or lead the Q and A period of their conference session.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\"><strong>Panel Chairs<\/strong> should contact panelists in the days before the conference to coordinate.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\">Upon receiving uploading instructions, <strong>panelists should upload their papers<\/strong> before the specified deadline in order to allow for time for panel chairs to read them (approximately two weeks before the conference).<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\"><strong>Chairs<\/strong> are urged to announce their plans to keep time at the outset of the panel in order to not discriminate between panelists and to ensure time for the question and answer period.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\"><strong>Chairs<\/strong> should not allow any questions until after all presentations and the Chair\u2019s responses are complete.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Panel Description:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>As per the ASEEES website: &#8220;Panels entail presentation of prepared papers (distributed in advance to a discussant) on a related topic or theme, followed by structured discussion of those papers. A complete panel must have: <strong>one chair; minimum of 3\u00a0to maximum of 4 papers; and at least one discussant, with a maximum of 2<\/strong>. While one role per participant is strongly preferred,<strong> the chair may serve also as a discussant or a paper presenter<\/strong>, if necessary.\u00a0 However, a paper presenter cannot be a discussant for the same panel on which they are presenting. If the panel decides to include a fourth paper, the length of the session does not change and each <span style=\"color: #000000\">paper presenter will therefore have less time to present.&#8221;<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\"><strong>Roundtable Description:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\">As per the ASEEES website: &#8220;Roundtables entail structured discussion of a topic\/theme. <strong>Roundtables must have: a chair and minimum of 3 to maximum of 5 roundtable speakers. <\/strong>Serving as a roundtable speaker does not count as a &#8220;paper&#8221; presentation in the ASEEES <a style=\"color: #000000\" href=\"https:\/\/www.aseees.org\/convention\/rules#twosession\">Two Session\/One-Paper Rule<\/a>. While one role per participant is strongly preferred, the chair may serve also as a roundtable speaker if necessary; in such a situation, there must be at least 4 roundtable speakers.&#8221;<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\"><strong>Book Discussion Roundtable:\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\">As per the ASEEES website: &#8220;A book discussion roundtable should be a discussion of a recently published book of importance to the field. In the session title, please add &#8220;Book Discussion&#8221; followed by the title of the book and author. Please use the roundtable submission category to submit a book discussion roundtable proposal.
