{"id":651,"date":"2016-05-10T21:03:02","date_gmt":"2016-05-10T21:03:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/dev.jsis.washington.edu\/earc\/?p=651"},"modified":"2016-08-19T18:15:38","modified_gmt":"2016-08-19T18:15:38","slug":"waa-focus-on-asia","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/jsis.washington.edu\/earc\/waa-focus-on-asia\/","title":{"rendered":"Write about Asia &#8212; Focus on Asia: Photography Past and Present"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>Description<\/h2>\n<p><em>Focus on Asia: Photography Past and Present<\/em> explored how photography in Asia encompasses memory and identity; distance and intimacy; reportage, advocacy, and aesthetics (description taken from the Gardner Center website).<\/p>\n<h3>Details<\/h3>\n<p>Saturdays, 9:30 a.m. \u2013 1:30 p.m., from\u00a0September 26 to November 21, 2015<br \/>\nSeattle Asian Art Museum, Volunteer Park<\/p>\n<p>Each Saturday, educators attended the public lecture from 9:30 &#8211; 11:00 a.m. and then met for a writing workshop with Mary Barber Roberts from 11:00 a.m &#8211; 1:30 p.m.\u00a0 During the workshop, time was\u00a0given to solitary writing in the art galleries in response to the morning lecture. The group then reconvened to share working drafts. The workshop nurtured educators as writers through self-reflection and group discussion.<\/p>\n<h3>Facilitator<\/h3>\n<p><a title=\"Mary Barber Roberts\" href=\"https:\/\/jsis.washington.edu\/earc\/people\/mary-roberts\/\">Mary Barber Roberts<\/a><\/p>\n<h3>Benefits<\/h3>\n<p>Free admission to the lecture and four free clock hours are available for each workshop. Educators earned up to 36 clock hours by attending all of the workshop sessions.
