China\u2019s influence on the global south is one of the most important issues of our time. Made in Ethiopia<\/em><\/strong><\/a> offers a rare opportunity to follow three women, a Chinese factory director, a local factory worker, and a nearby farmer, as a massive Chinese industrial park transforms rural Ethiopia. Together, we will consider what \u201cprogress\u201d and \u201cdevelopment\u201d mean to these three women and explore how China\u2019s growing presence is shaping their communities, families, and livelihoods.<\/p>\n

NCTA seminar instructor Tese Wintz Neighbor<\/strong><\/a> will lead you through a discussion of the film.<\/p>\n

Dates and Times<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Participants will be assigned to one of the following online sessions. Session dates are flexible based on participant preference.<\/p>\n

Group 1: Wednesday, November 11, 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM (Pacific Time)<\/strong><\/p>\n

Group 2: Thursday, November 12, 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM (Pacific Time)<\/strong><\/p>\n

This program will be held on Zoom.<\/em><\/p>\n

Program Requirements<\/strong><\/h3>\n

This Movie Study will be held over Zoom. Teachers will be expected to view the movie ahead of time (90 minutes), complete a short assignment, and participate in a two-hour film discussion with video camera on. This movie is available on Kanopy<\/a> and PBS POV<\/a>.<\/p>\n
