In the book <strong><em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.goodreads.com\/book\/show\/144021922-the-penguin-book-of-modern-tibetan-essays?from_search=true&amp;from_srp=true&amp;qid=E8tjUr4bOq&amp;rank=1\">The Penguin Book of Modern Tibetan Essays<\/a><\/em><\/strong><em>,<\/em> editor and translator Tenzin Dickie gives us a powerful, intimate, and engaging <strong>portrait of modern Tibetan life<\/strong> \u2013 outside of Tibet. Through their extraordinary voices, we as readers, joined the authors as they grapple with what it means to be living in exile in all corners of the world. Dickie believes that their \u201chomework\u201d of writing an essay about Tibet becomes \u201ca literary exercise in recovering the lost land.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>As Tenzin Dickie writes in her introduction \u201c<em>The essay\u2014as act of truth\u2014changes not just the writer but also the reader.<\/em>\u201d \u00a0You can read her entire introduction <a href=\"https:\/\/lithub.com\/literature-in-the-bardo-tenzin-dickie-on-the-past-present-and-future-of-the-tibetan-essay\/\">here.<\/a><\/p>\n<h3><strong>Date and Time<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Participants chose to attend one of the following sessions:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Group 1: Monday, November 27, 2023; 4:30 PM to 6:30 PM (Pacific Time)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Group 2: Tuesday, November 28, 2023; 4:30 PM to 6:30 PM (Pacific Time)<\/strong><\/p>\n<h3>Program expectations<\/h3>\n<p>This online book club was structured like an on-site book club. All participants were asked to keep their video on.
