With the 24-hour uninterrupted news cycle, it can be challenging to stay on top of what is happening in East Asia and around the world. The online series\u00a0Behind the Headlines<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0offered teachers a recap and a nuanced understanding of current events happening in\u00a0Taiwan, South and North Korea, China, Xinjiang, Japan, and Hong Kong<\/strong>. Each regional expert provided a summary and context behind the latest developments in these countries over the last several months. Teachers had an opportunity to ask timely and pertinent questions, leading to an informative discussion on East Asia today. Speakers were from the faculty of the Jackson School of International Studies at the University of Washington and other leading institutions. Educators were able to select one or more sessions to attend.<\/p>\n
