Their development coincides with their country\u2019s historic and far-reaching developments \u2013 what does this mean? Do Chinese youth aspire to a different future than their parents? Educators joined EARC Seminar Leader <a href=\"https:\/\/jsis.washington.edu\/earc\/people\/tese-neighbor\/\">Tese Wintz Neighbor<\/a> in examining the diverse lives of Chinese youth and explored together how this next generation might shape China\u2019s domestic development and its trajectory on the world stage.<\/p>\n<h3>Details<\/h3>\n<p>Participants chose to attend the seminar in Group 1 (Wednesdays) or in Group 2 (Thursdays):<\/p>\n<p><strong>Group 1<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Wednesday, February 1, 2023<\/strong>, 4:30-6:30 PM (PST)<br \/>\n<strong>Wednesday, February 15, 2023<\/strong>, 4:30-6:30 PM (PST)<br \/>\n<strong>Wednesday, March 1, 2023<\/strong>, 4:30-6:30 PM (PST)<br \/>\n<strong>Wednesday, March 22, 2023<\/strong>, 4:30-6:30 PM (PST)<\/p>\n<p><strong>Group 2<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Thursday, February 2, 2023<\/strong>, 4:30-6:30 PM (PST)<br \/>\n<strong>Thursday, February 16, 2023<\/strong>, 4:30-6:30 PM (PST)<br \/>\n<strong>Thursday, March 2, 2023<\/strong>, 4:30-6:30 PM (PST)<br \/>\n<strong>Thursday, March 23, 2023<\/strong>, 4:30-6:30 PM (PST)<\/p>\n<h3>Benefits for completing the seminar<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>20 free WA OSPI clock hours.<\/li>\n<li>Online resource packet.<\/li>\n<li>Selection of books chosen by the seminar leader and mailed to participants before the beginning of the seminar.<\/li>\n<li>$100 stipend to order additional material after completing the seminar.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><em>The seminar was offered to K-12 educators free of charge thanks to a generous grant from the Freeman Foundation to the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/nctasia.org\/\">National Consortium for Teaching about Asia\u00a0(NCTA)<\/a>, and it was sponsored by the University of Washington\u2019s East Asia Resource Center.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp; This NCTA online seminar examined the lifestyles, behaviors, and attitudes of young Chinese adults growing up in a country that has become an economic and global power.
