In the morning, teachers joined us virtually for Storytelling in Asian Art<\/strong><\/em>.\u00a0 In the afternoon, they attended the in-person workshop, Connecting Words and Images<\/strong><\/em> at the Seattle Asian Art Museum<\/a>.\u00a0 The morning virtual workshop and the afternoon in-person workshop could be attended together or separately.\u00a0 Both programs were free but each require separate registrations.<\/div>\n

Fall Educator Virtual Workshop: Storytelling in Asian Art<\/strong><\/h2>\n<\/div>\n

In this virtual workshop, educators engaged with artwork from the Seattle Asian Art Museum, as well as other pieces in the museum’s collection that drew inspiration from Asian art. They practiced facilitating conversations that drew out stories and personal connection, and heard from East Asia Resource Center’s Melanie King<\/a> about how culturally specific objects tell stories.<\/div>\n

Fall Educator In-Person Workshop: Connecting Words and Images<\/strong><\/h2>\n

2:30PM-4:00PM (Pacific Time) at the Seattle Asian Art Museum (SPACES AVAILABLE)<\/h2>\n
This in-person workshop explored how words and images come together to foster connections between artists and the world around them.\u00a0 Educators took in works of art from the Seattle Asian Art Museum’s collection, as well as pieces from the special exhibition Beyond the Mountain: Contemporary Chinese Artists on the Classical Forms<\/em><\/a>. Participants experienced works of art that use multiple modes of artistic expression, then tried out engagement strategies to encourage students to do the same through discussing and making art<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
