This\u00a0<strong>online program series<\/strong>\u00a0helps teachers with a recap of how China, Xinjiang, Japan, Korea, Hong Kong and Taiwan stand on the domestic and international stage, provides a summary and the specific context of what happened in each East Asian country in the last few months, and allows for a place for teachers to ask questions to a regional expert. Whether you closely follow East Asia or want to learn more about why you should be paying attention to it, this program is a great occasion to deepen your knowledge and understanding.<\/p>\n<p>Teachers join the EARC staff and\u00a0<strong>guest speakers<\/strong>\u00a0from the faculty of the Jackson School of International Studies at the University of Washington and other regional experts for a discussion on the contextual relevance of recent and current events.<\/p>\n<p><em>This program was sponsored by the East Asia Resource Center at the University of Washington,\u00a0and funded by a Freeman Foundation grant in support of the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/nctasia.org\/\">National Consortium for Teaching about Asia (NCTA)<\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The <strong>sixth\u00a0event<\/strong>\u00a0of this series focused on Japan<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>and was lead by Professor Robert Pekkanen.<\/p>\n<h3>Details<\/h3>\n<p>Date: Tuesday, November 30, 2021.<\/p>\n<p>Time: 4:30 to 6:30 PM, Pacific Time.<\/p>\n<h3>Regional Expert<\/h3>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/jsis.washington.edu\/people\/robert-pekkanen\/\">Robert Pekkanen<\/a>\u00a0is Professor at the Henry M. Jackson School of International Studies, Adjunct Professor of Political Science, and Adjunct Professor of Sociology at the University of Washington.
