This\u00a0<strong>online program series<\/strong>\u00a0helps teachers with a recap of how China, Xinjiang, Japan, Korea, Hong Kong and Taiwan stand on the domestic and international stage, provides a summary and the specific context of what happened in each East Asian country in the last few months, and allows for a place for teachers to ask questions to a regional expert. Whether you closely follow East Asia or want to learn more about why you should be paying attention to it, this program is a great occasion to deepen your knowledge and understanding.<\/p>\n<p>Teachers join the EARC staff and\u00a0<strong>guest speakers<\/strong>\u00a0from the faculty of the Jackson School of International Studies at the University of Washington and other regional experts for a discussion on the contextual relevance of recent and current events.<\/p>\n<p><em>This program is sponsored by the East Asia Resource Center at the University of Washington,\u00a0and funded by a Freeman Foundation grant in support of the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/nctasia.org\/\">National Consortium for Teaching about Asia (NCTA)<\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>These are stand-alone programs, and teachers can sign up for as many as they would like. The <strong>second\u00a0event<\/strong> of this series focused on <strong>China\u00a0<\/strong>and was led by\u00a0Professor <a href=\"https:\/\/jsis.washington.edu\/people\/david-bachman\/\">David Bachman<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h3>China: Where We Are At Session<\/h3>\n<p>Date: Tuesday, October 26, 2021.<\/p>\n<p>Time: 4:30 to 6:30 PM, Pacific Time.<\/p>\n<h3>Regional Expert<\/h3>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/jsis.washington.edu\/people\/david-bachman\/\"><strong>David Bachman<\/strong><\/a>,\u00a0Professor of International Studies in the Jackson School of International Studies, and former chair of the China Studies Program, provided a\u00a0summary of the latest updates on China, followed by a moderated Q&amp;A session.
